The Demko Bed-System provides responsive support for your body and spine while you sleep. At its heart is a flexible three-dimensional slat base that responds to the body’s shape, weight and movement. Working together with an organic mattress, the system creates an ideal sleeping surface that combines support and comfort for your body. The Demko Bed-System combines three specially developed components that work together to provide the support and comfort your body needs while you sleep:
Flexible 3D Slat Base
The foundation of the system, distributing support evenly along the body while minimising pressure points and providing additional support where it is needed most, particularly around the lower back.
Organic Mattress
A compatible organic mattress that works together with the flexible slat base to provide comfort and support.
Holding Frame
Due to its special design it allows – not only the top – but the lower slat row as well to move deeper as much as needed where it is needed to achieve as perfect support as possible.
Most conventional bed bases provide a relatively fixed surface underneath the mattress, leaving the mattress to provide most of the body’s support and cushioning. The Demko approach is different. The slat base itself is an active part of the system, working together with the mattress rather than simply providing a fixed platform beneath it. The Demko Bed-System is therefore not simply another type of mattress. Its distinctive support technology is built into the flexible slat base beneath the mattress.

How the 3D support system moves? The human body changes position throughout the night, so the Demko Bed-System provides support that can respond to those movements. The Demko 3D slat base uses strong, yet flexible white beech slats connected by flexible strips. Rather than acting as a rigid, flat platform, the slat base is designed to move with the body in three dimensions — vertically, sideways and rotationally. This allows the support surface to respond to differences in body shape, weight and sleeping position while the mattress rests on top of the system.
Vertical movement allows individual areas of the slatted base to respond to the weight placed on them.
Sideways movement allows the slats to adapt laterally rather than remaining completely fixed in one position.
Rotational movement allows the support elements to respond to changes in the body’s position and shape.
Together, these movements create a more dynamic and responsive support surface than a conventional rigid base.
No matter how you move, the support follows — maintaining spinal alignment, evenly distributing weight, and relieving tension along the entire back. This can encourage the spine to decompress during sleep, reduce pressure on vertebral discs and improve circulation throughout the body.
The vertebral discs can take up the optimal position during sleep avoiding their degeneration. Importantly, decreasing the load strain and thereby ensuring that no harmful tension points develop. The Demko bed-system can evenly distribute the weight on the bones, the ligaments, the muscles linking them. As well as on the muscles surrounding the spine and the area around the joints. As a consequence, the blood supply can improve as well as the removal of inter-tissue waste material through the veins and lymph vessels. At the same time the slat base also stretches the spine longitudinally, moving the vertebrae and articular discs away from each other. The arteries are straightened out so the local blood pressure can decrease and supply of nutrition to the articular discs can increase.

We spend thousands of hours in bed throughout our lives. That makes the surface we sleep on an important part of how we rest, recover and feel when we wake. The quality of your sleeping surface matters because your body spends many hours supported by it every night. A bed that is too soft, too firm or simply not suited to your body can affect comfort and how supported you feel while sleeping.
A mattress that is too soft for an individual may allow parts of the body to sink more deeply into the sleeping surface, while a mattress that is too firm may not allow the body to settle comfortably into the support surface.
The right level of support is therefore not simply a question of choosing the hardest or softest mattress. The way the support surface responds to the individual body matters too.
Firm bed: A rigid or very firm sleeping surface provides strong resistance, but may not adapt equally to every part of the body.
Soft bed: A softer surface can allow the body to sink further into the mattress, but excessive softness may make it harder for some sleepers to maintain a comfortable position.

The Demko Bed-System is designed to work with specific mattress configurations that complement the movement of its flexible 3D slat base. The recommended mattress depends primarily on the sleeper’s body weight.
For sleepers up to approximately 16 stone (100 kg), the standard 10 cm organic latex mattress is recommended. It provides the comfortable sleeping surface while allowing the flexible support base beneath it to respond to the body.
For sleepers over approximately 16 stone (100 kg), we recommend the alternative organic latex and coir mattress, which provides additional support for higher body weights while remaining compatible with the Demko Bed-System.
The mattress is an integral part of the system, so we recommend using one of the mattress configurations specifically designed for the Demko Bed-System rather than substituting a conventional mattress.
